Ozarka Brand Natural Spring Water is helping the East Texas Food Bank kick off Giving Tuesday by donating $5,000 and a truckload of bottled water.

Giving Tuesday is a 24-hour global day of giving to charities and nonprofits.

The donation is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at the East Texas Food Bank, 3201 Robertson Road. After the presentation, Ozarka employees will volunteer at the food bank.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Officials say three people were killed when a single-engine plane crashed while attempting to land at San Antonio International Airport.

San Antonio Fire Chief Charles Hood says the plane went down around 6:30 p.m. Sunday in a commercial district about a mile west of the airport.

Hood says the plane took off from Sugar Land, southwest of Houston, and was heading to Boerne when it experienced engine trouble and diverted to San Antonio.

Boerne is about 30 miles north of the city.

Hood says flight logs indicate three people were on board.

National Transportation Safety Board spokesman Peter Knudson says federal investigators are expected to arrive at the scene on Tuesday.

Officials say no structures were damaged in the crash and no one else was injured.

GREGG COUNTY — One person was in custody after Gregg County sheriff’s deputies were sent to investigate a call about the homicide Monday afternoon between Longview and Kilgore, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Joshua Tubb said.

Tubb said officers received the call about a homicide at 2:15 p.m. in the 3800 block of Farm-to-Market road 2087.

Sheriff Maxey Cerliano confirmed Monday evening that a suspect was in custody, but he and Tubb both said further information was not available.

“Right now, the information we’re able to release is pretty

limited,” Tubb said

Several departments responded to a barn fire in Smith County, west of Whitehouse.

According to authorities, the fire happened in the 17700 block of County Road 15, between Farm-to-Market Road 756 and Farm-to-Market Road 346. Firefighters from Chapel Hill, Whitehouse and Flint-Gresham fire departments responded to the fire.
