A Smith County jury has sentenced an Oklahoma man to life without parole for the continuous sexual abuse of a 7-year-old girl.
Michael Orr, 43, was found guilty Wednesday of continuous sexual abuse of a young child. During three days of testimony in the 241st District Court, the jury heard evidence showing he abused the girl for over a month in 2014, according to a news release from the Smith County District Attorney’s Office.
Jurors took an hour to come back with their guilty verdict, and then gave a life sentence for Orr on Thursday.
The case was investigated by Jennifer Stockwell with the Smith County Sheriff’s Office and assisted by the Smith County Children’s Advocacy Center. Bryan Jiral and Heath Chamness of the Smith County District Attorney’s Office served as the prosecutors, the release stated.
“He changed that little girl’s life forever. He has earned his life sentence,” Chamness said.
