The National Ovarian Cancer Coalition will be hosting the first Cathy’s Project Charity Golf Tournament on Sept. 26 at Eagle’s Bluff Country Club, 700 Eagle’s Bluff Boulevard in Bullard.

This event is being held in memory of Cathy VanAntwerp, a longtime golfing member of both Eagle’s Bluff and Emerald Bay Golf Clubs, who fought bravely for over four years and eventually lost her battle with ovarian cancer last July.

Before her passing, she and her husband partnered with the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition to launch an Earlier Awareness Initiative.

“We are excited about this event and the opportunity to raise awareness about ovarian cancer,” said Sarah Harris, National Ovarian Cancer Coalition Dallas/Forth Worth Chapter manager. “There is no early detection test for ovarian cancer, so education and awareness are currently our best defense against this disease.”

Registration will open at noon, and the shotgun start will be at 1:00 p.m. Pre-registration for the event is required by September 19, 2016.
