More than 900 gymnasts set to compete in Rose City Classic

More than 900 gymnasts are set to compete in the 19th Annual Rose City Classic Invitational this weekend in Tyler.
The event begins on Friday and continues through Sunday at the W.T. Brookshire Conference Center (2000 W. Front St., Tyler) and will be hosted by the Texas East Gymnastics Booster Club and Texas East Kids (TEK).
The meet will showcase some of the rising gymnastic stars. Tickets are available at the door.
The Rose City Classic has built a reputation for attracting elite gymnasts, including collegiate and Olympic hopefuls, thanks to Texas East Gymnastics’ top-tier training and the welcoming spirit of Tyler.
“This is an exciting opportunity for the community to see firsthand the dedication and skill of these incredible athletes,” said Stacy Panfil-Parsley and Martin Parsley, owners and coaches at Texas East Kids. “These gymnasts train more than 22 hours a week, and this event is their chance to shine.”
The Texas East Gymnastics program has produced NCAA scholarship athletes competing at Auburn, Texas Woman’s University, Nebraska, Augustana and more. This year, two more standout gymnasts, Brylie Chamness (University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh) and Lovie Gandy (Hawaii Pacific University), have signed to compete at the collegiate level.
Texas East Gymnastics athletes currently competing at the collegiate level include:
+ Hannah Hagle, Auburn University Gymnastics;
+ Steelie King, Texas Woman’s University Gymnastics;
+ Katie Kuenemann, University of Nebraska Gymnastics;
+ Kaitlin Abanto, Texas Woman’s University Acro-Stunt; and
+ Greenlee Gowin, Augustana University, Acrobatics and Tumbling.
Day passes are $25 (adult) and $15 (children 3-12, seniors 65+) and weekend passes are $40 (adult) and $25 (children 3-12, seniors 65+).
Passes can be purchased at the door. Cash/Credit/Mobile pay accepted. A small fee will be charged for all credit/mobile transactions.
Sessions on Friday are scheduled for 8 a.m., 11 a.m., 2 p.m., and 6 p.m.
Sessions on Saturday are scheduled for 8 a.m., 11 a.m., 2:15 p.m., and 5:30 p.m.
Sessions on Sunday are scheduled for 8 a.m., 11 a.m., 2:30 p.m., 6 p.m., and 7:45 p.m.

The Texas East Gymnastics Booster Club is a non-profit organization formed to assist in minimizing the expenses incurred by the competitive gymnastics team at Texas East Kids. All proceeds from the Rose City Classic help support the Texas East Gymnastics competitive teams.
