A statue that went missing from a Literacy Council of Tyler park has been recovered.

The statue was located in the Legends for Literacy commemorative endowment park along the Rose Rudman Trail. The Literacy Council opened the park last year.

Literacy Council Executive Director Nancy Crawford said the statue went missing on Sunday, and police found it on Monday in a creek along the trail. It was damaged.

The statue, which a donor purchased, is of a boy trying to carry a bunch of books and losing his balance.

Ms. Crawford said she is not sure if the person or people intentionally broke the statue or just got carried away playing and accidently broke it.
