MARSHALL (KYTX) – A traffic stop in Marshall lead to the discovery of methamphetamine and an illegal firearm Friday afternoon.
Members of the Marshall Criminal Apprehension Team conducted the traffic stop around 7:00 p.m. in the 5600 Block of E. End Blvd on a White 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse. During the stop, officers became suspicious and requested permission to search the vehicle, and permission was granted.
During the search, officers located a clear plastic bag containing methamphetamine hidden in the rear of the vehicle. A .25 caliber pistol was also located in the glovebox of the vehicle.
The driver, Micheal Easley, 25, was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Felon in possession of a firearm. Easley, who was the only person in the vehicle, was transported to the Marshall Police Department.
The plastic bag of methamphetamine was determined to weigh approximately 44 grams.
Chief Jesus “Eddie” Campa stated, “MCAT has had a busy week making arrests and getting offenders off of the streets. They have arrested an individual for Deadly Conduct, a person for Bond Forfeiture and now have arrested Micheal Easley with a significant amount of meth. MCAT was created to help make Marshall a safer place to live and I am happy to say that we are seeing the benefits of this team.”
