Lindale eighth-grader wins essay contest

A Lindale gifted and talented student won a scholarship for a historical essay.
Jonas Oliver Thrasher-Evers, an eighth-grade student at Lindale Junior High School, was named the winner of the 2012-13 Colonial Heritage Essay Contest for Tyler area middle schools, according to a news release. The prompt for the contest was “What was the significance of the Jamestown Settlement?”
Thrasher-Evers was granted a certificate, an American flag and a scholarship by the Richard Borden Chapter, Colonial Dames XVII Century.
Membership in Colonial Dames XVII Century is open to ladies of good moral character who can trace their ancestors to one of the original 13 colonies between 1601 and 1701.
