Kilgore College theater goes for laughs

(MCT) — The Kilgore College theater department is tickling the funny bone with its production of Jonathan Rand’s “Check Please.”

The show runs through April 13 with 7 p.m. performances and a 2:30 p.m. Sunday matinee. Adult tickets cost $6, student tickets are $5 and KC student tickets are $4.

The play follows two characters — “Guy and Girl” — after their relationship ends and they’re thrust back into the dating pool.

“They come across a range of crazy characters, so what you’re seeing is a series of really bad blind or first dates,” KC theater instructor and director Micah Goodding said.

Each scene, except one, is made up of just two characters, so he said those two characters must have chemistry and rely on each other to make the scene work.

“While it’s a really enjoyable process for our cast,” Goodding said, “it requires a lot of commitment from them.”
