Students at Hubbard Middle School brought history to life during its second annual African-American Living History Museum.
More than 80 members of students and staff participated in the event in roles celebrating the pioneers of African-American history.
Participants were taken on tours of exhibits featuring students playing different historical figures, which helped students learn independent study skills as well as collaborative learning techniques.
“This is our second year doing it and our principal wanted us to do something out of the norm,” teacher Tina Graham said. “Students were more involved by researching and portraying different influential African-Americans. They get to learn more about African-American history and come up with their own dialogue.”
Teachers from across the district also participated in a gospel choir during the event.
