Allison Smith, a homeschooled student of Tyler, recently performed with the Texas All-State Orchestra in San Antonio at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center as part of the 2016 Texas Music Educators Association Clinic/Convention.

She was chosen to perform through a competitive process across the state at district, region and area levels.

The process begins with more than 64,000 students from around the state, of whom 1,600 are selected to perform in bands, orchestras and choirs.

Miss Smith is a student of Jaime Reason and has performed as concertmaster with both the East Texas Youth Orchestra and the Kilgore College Youth Orchestra.
