Gospel concert, women’s retreat among upcoming faith-based events around East Texas

GOSPEL CONCERT
An evening of praise honoring the legacy of Willie Neal “The Country Boy” Johnson is scheduled for 5 p.m. Jan. 8 at the Greater Shiloh Baptist Church, 2515 W. Shaw St., in Tyler. The New Gospel Keynotes, the Tyler Area Choir and other acts also will perform.
BIBLE STUDIES
Holly Brook Baptist Church, 3219 S. Farm-to-Market Road 2869in Hawkins, will offer several Bible studies for men and women. The men’s Bible study is based on passages in Ecclesiastes with a theme of “Enjoy the life you have – it is a gift from God.” It will resume on Tuesday from 8:15 to 9 a.m. The women’s class, from a Beth Moore study of the Old Testament book of Esther, will begin Jan. 11 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Visit www.hollybrookbaptist.org or call 903-769-2091 for more information.
MLK DAY PROGRAM
Bethany Word of Life Tabernacle, 6808 Paluxy Drive, in Tyler will present a 2017 Martin Luther King Jr. program at 11 a.m. Jan. 15.The event will commemorate the birthday and legacy of the slain civil rights leader. The free program, which is open to the public, will provide an opportunity to learn about King’s work in promoting equality, justice, and service for the greater good of humanity.The Rev.
