ETMC Foundation $958,000 grant funding supports local nonprofits

The East Texas Medical Center Foundation is assisting several local nonprofits with community grants totaling over $958,000 along with $3 million donated to the UT Tyler medical school start-up.
“The foundation board of directors is pleased to support 13 organizations in the community that is working in the areas of mental health and substance use disorder, healthcare and childhood health and safety,” said Elam Swann, ETMC board chair.
The private foundation was established in 2018 following the sale of the East Texas Medical Center Regional Health Care System. The grants were announced in early October.
Organizations that were awarded include the 1 in 3 Foundation, Adventum Mental Health Network, Alzheimer’s Alliance, Bethesda Health Clinic, East Texas Baptist University, East Texas Community Clinic and the East Texas Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse, Next Step Community Solutions, Mosaic Counseling Center, Starbrite Therapeutic Equestrian Center, Smith County Champions For Children, St. Paul Children’s Services, and The Mentoring Alliance.
“The ETMC Foundation is dedicated to improving the health and quality of lives in Tyler and the surrounding East Texas communities,” Swann said. “We are excited about the impact these organizations will have on East Texas.”
