A work of art called “Bon Vivant” by Tyler artist Dace Lucia Kidd will be featured on limited-edition art posters that will be available at the downtown Tyler Wine Swirl this weekend, the city of Tyler announced.
Ms. Kidd was chosen as the Wine Swirl artist winner by a judging panel after a call for artists was conducted, city of Tyler Main Street Department Leader Beverly Abell said, adding that the panel made its decision based on an anonymous work scoring system.
“She’s just a really wonderful artist and has become really popular in this area,” Ms. Abell said.
She said prints of Ms. Kidd’s artwork in poster size, both signed by the artist and unsigned, will be available at the Wine Swirl event, scheduled for 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Gallery Main Street, 110 W. Erwin St. Signed prints are $50 and unsigned prints are $25.
Ms. Abell previously said the Wine Swirl, a fundraiser for the Main Street Department, is “like an art walk with wine and food.”
During the event, Texas wineries and locally owned restaurants are paired together in different venues downtown, she said last month. As of Monday afternoon, 18 Texas wineries and 17 locally owned restaurants were slated to participate.
Ms. Abell previously said attendees check in at Gallery Main Street, where they will receive a custom wine swirl plate, a wine glass and a wristband, which entitles them to “swirl” from site to site. They will be allowed a 2-ounce sample of wine as well as a food sample at each location.
Ms. Abell said Pocket Tangerine also will provide live entertainment, and a group of artists will set up a pop-up boutique with “all items related to food and wine.”
She encouraged people to get tickets fast because the event is limited to 500 ticket-holders.
A lot of people had come in Monday morning to buy tickets, and “once we sell out, we sell out,” she said.
Tickets are $50 per person, and ticket-holders must be 21 or older.
Tickets are available at Gallery Main Street and online at www.Tyler WineSwirl.com. A fee will apply to online purchases.
