Mother Nature left behind some damage thanks to torrential rain around Smith County this past weekend, according to officials.
Sunday rains turned the hill at Broadway Avenue and Erwin Street into a watershed for the persistent deluge.
Robin Smart, Tyler Street Operations manager, said the rain caused little damage, and typical debris left by floodwaters was washed away by continuous rain after major downpours.
Smart said areas and roads where flooding occurs experienced little damages, but crews were out Monday checking infrastructure. He said there were a few calls about water issues and fallen limbs, but no reports of downed trees.
Flooding pushed forward a scheduled culvert replacement leaving County Road 138 in the Flint area between Old Jacksonville Highway and U.S. Highway 69 closed and County Road 3101 damaged.
County Road and Bridge Department Assistant Administrator Charley Miller said one traffic lane on County Road 3101 was damaged by flooding, but that crews were scheduled to complete repairs on Monday.
He said the washed out culvert was expected to be replaced soon.
Crews responded to flooding and placed barriers where needed but damages were limited to those reported.
He said there were no reports of downed trees or debris in roadways.
