Discovery Science Place Ice-Skating Rink Grand Opening, Friday, 6 to 9 p.m., 308 N. Broadway Ave. This event offers families a magical start to the holiday season with an array of activities included in the $15 ticket price. The rink is synthetic. Science Saturday, Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., 308 N. Broadway Ave. in Tyler (Discovery Science Place). Join the students of UT Tyler Department of Biology with hands-on activities to learn about Tiny Invader: Viruses, Ant Foraging Treasure Hunt, What Makes Us Unique and Build-A-Bird. Last Train to Paris Murder Mystery Dinner, Saturday, 6 to 8:30 p.m., 624 N Broadway Ave. in Tyler (Goodman-LeGrand House & Museum). Dress in your best 1940s in Paris vintage attire as you mingle with suspects, uncover clues, and solve a shocking crime before the train reaches its final destination. Jingle and Mingle: A Christmas Market, Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., 5100 Chandler Hwy in Tyler (The Gathering Cup). The community is invited for a festive day filled with fun for the whole family of Christmas shopping. With a lineup of vendors, delicious food, coffee, hot chocolate and yard games, you can also get selfies with the Grinch and participate in arts and crafts to really soak in the holiday spirit. Christmas in the Pineywoods, Nov. 21-23, 100 Grand Blvd. in Longview (Maude Cobb Convention Center). Hosted by the Junior League of Longview, the community is invited to go ahead and make plans for this holiday shopping experience and fundraiser at the Christmas in the Pineywoods Holiday Shopping Event. The shopping event will kick off with Girls Night Out on Nov. 21 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., then will be open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 22 and Nov. 23. Deck the Halls Christmas Market, Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., 1218 U.S. 271 N. in Gilmer (Gilmer Civic Center). The event will feature vendors selling food and other merchandise. Admission is free. Information: www.facebook.com/gilmerciviccenter.
Elijah’s Retreat Fall Festival, Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., 257 CR 3310 in Jacksonville (Elijah’s Retreat). A safe haven for families touched by autism, Elijah’s Retreat is inviting the community to enjoy this annual fall festival with barbecue, hayrides, games, facepainting, raffle prizes and more.
