Christmas tree farms are a hallmark of the holidays, offering a chance to create cherished memories while picking out the perfect tree. Among the local options is Breckenridge Village‘s tree farm, which is bringing more than just holiday cheer — it’s supporting a mission of care and community for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

From Nov. 29 to Dec. 10, Breckenridge Village is inviting the community to come pick out their perfect tree for Christmas, with 100 percent of the proceeds going toward the nonprofit. The farm is located at 15062 County Road 1145 in Tyler.

A collection of Noble and Nordmann firs will be set up in the parking lot outside of the new Douglas R. Mehling II Center. During the weekends, there will be food and coffee trucks, as well as Santa, different activities and an acapella group to entertain the community.

Breckenridge Village is seeking dedicated volunteers eager to make a difference in their community. Whether they’re looking for an opportunity to give back this holiday season or searching for meaningful ways to serve, there are plenty of ways to get involved and support the mission.

“I think that the folks that live in East Texas are some of the most, if not the most, generous people,” said Melissa Perkins, newly-appointed president of Breckenridge Village. “Tyler is such a generous area and we are immensely grateful for the donors… and we have board members that are volunteering. It’s truly heartwarming… for the folks that come out.”
