Tyler native Broderick McGee, 47, has announced he will seek the Tyler City Council District 2 seat in the May 2018 election. That seat is being vacated by current council member Darryl Browdre, who can’t run again due to term limits.

“After visiting with residents of the district as well as community leaders over the past several months, I am excited to announce my candidacy for City Council,” McGee said in a press release. “Tyler has great momentum with the pay–as–you-go plan and the overall businesslike approach to city government. I believe my business background and experience serving with various community boards will be an asset in working as a member of the City Council. I would consider it an honor to be elected to this position.”

McGee is the human resources manager for Kluber Lubrication. He’s a graduate of John Tyler High School and Tyler Junior College. He received a bachelor’s in business administration from LeTourneau University and a master’s in human resources management from Columbia Southern University.

He’s also an alumnus of Leadership Tyler Class 27.

McGee is a leader in his industry organizations, including the Texas Society for Human Resource Management. He is a board member for the Boys & Girls Club of East Texas.
