(MCT) -- The Athens Triathlon returns for the 29th time on Saturday with hundreds of competitors.

The registration continues through today. Online registration is available at www.active.com.

The events starts at 9 a.m. Saturday.

The triathlon has three parts, and the contestant with the lowest combined time is the winner. The first event is a 300-meter swim held at the Cain Center's 25-meter indoor pool.

The bike race is 14 miles from State Highway 19 south to Loop 7, and then from Loop 7 to State Highway 31 west, then back to the Cain Center.

The event wraps with a 5K (3.1 mile) run that flows out onto Robbins Road and back to Cain Center. Last year the event was won by Scott Kimbrell of Colorado Springs, Colo.
