SMITH COUNTY — Law enforcement agencies in East Texas will be out Tuesday night, meeting with the residents for the 40th annual National Night Out.
A nationwide event that invites the community to connect with its law enforcement officers, National Night Out is celebrated on the first Tuesday of every October to help build safe communities by getting to know neighbors and the police officers that patrol the communities.
According to the Tyler Police Department, the program promotes neighborhood alliances by strengthening communities and preserving the quality of life in East Texas.
“Through National Night Out, we can strengthen our communities by helping to educate our families, friends and neighbors on crime prevention,” the website said.
