Tyler Athletic and Swim Club – the new and improved Tyler Tennis and Swim – is now offering Tyler residents a wider array of amenities.

It’s the newest branch of Cliff Drysdale Tennis, the company led by the tennis commentator and former professional tennis player. The club offers a 14,000 square-foot facility with tennis courts, a swimming pool, a workout center and a turf soccer field.

The club has partnered with XTC fitness to put Tony Cruz and his son, Corey, in charge of the state-of-the art gym. The workout center offers weights, cardio, group fitness and a children’s center for busy parents.

The club’s 12 tennis courts are brand new and free to use with a new membership. The club also offers complimentary one-on-one tennis lessons for beginners with coach Jake Baranowski, director of tennis.

“Most people think if they did not start playing tennis at a young age, it is too late to start,” Baranowski said. “The one-on-one program allows any age or skill level to learn the basics.”

The club strives to be family-oriented.

“We want to be a lifestyle club and offer activities that accommodate the whole family” said Tyler Baranowski, director of facility and membership services.

The club is also hosting a USTA Pro Circuit event in the fall. This series of tournaments has produced stars like Coco Vandeweghe, who made it to the semifinals of Wimbledon this year.

The tournament will be called the Tyler Pro Challenge, and the proceeds will be donated to ACEing Autism, a nonprofit group that teaches autistic children to play tennis.

The club will have its grand opening Aug. 4, with an appearance from Cliff Drysdale. An open house will be held Aug. 5 for those interested in a membership.
