Executive Director Patty Garner with CASA for Kids of East Texas will be featured on this week’s Tyler Chamber Radio Show. CASA for Kids of East Texas is a nonprofit organization that provides trained community volunteers to advocate for the abused and neglected children of Smith, Wood and Van Zandt Counties. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) was created to make sure that the abuse that these children suffered doesn’t continue, at the hands of the system. Each year 500,000 abused and neglected children are in need of safe, permanent, nurturing homes. These children spend years moving from one temporary home to another. They have no family to call their own. Unfortunately, the children find themselves caught between the rock of an abusive situation at home and the hard place of an overburdened court and welfare system. CASA for Kids can be reached by phone at 903-597-7725 or online at www.casaforkidsofet.ord.
People on the show, which can be found at TylerPaper.com include Henry Bell, chief operating officer of the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce; Christ Miller, one of the owners of C Miller Drilling; Keith Garcia, principal of Vista Academy of Tyler, and Keaton Roy, in marketing with Knight Renovations, Restorations, Janitorial.
