A group of East Texas artists have stalled painting an 800-square-foot mural at ETX Brewing Co., 221 S. Broadway Ave.
The mural will depict bluebonnets, phlox, Indian paintbrush, black-eyed Susans and other native flowers, said Lindsay Boone, the artist heading the project.
Fourteen artists plan to participate.
“Everyone has chosen their own species of wildflower to paint and will paint it in their own unique style,” Boone said in a news release. “It will be a beautiful and diverse painting that reflects the wealth of talent in our community.”
ETX Brewing Co. owners Brian and Anne Gilstrap came up with the idea of using many artists and are supplying the materials,
Boone said.
“Everyone gets the chance to show Tyler what they can do with this mural,” Annie Gilstrap said. “It’s such a cool way to bring people together and create a lovely piece of public art that everyone can enjoy.”
The artists began working on the mural Friday and hope to finish it Monday, Boone said. A reveal party honoring the artists is set for June 23.
Participating artists are Britt Belvail, Becky Martin, Jennifer Vaughn, Julianna Wynn, David Maldonado, Mikayla Willis, Tyler Shelton, Madeline Travis, Chasity Erbaugh, Randy Randall, Justin Fasulo, Kate Googins and Sandra Newton.
Boone is in charge of the design and execution and will paint “Be Happy” between the blooms.
