MARY ELIZABETH "BETSY" HYDE

Mary Elizabeth “Betsy” Hyde entered Heaven on March 18, 2019 after suffering a catastrophic stroke. A memorial service will be held in her honor on March 29, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church in Tyler with Rev. David Luckenbach officiating. A reception will be held in the fellowship hall afterwards. Interment will be held in Paris, Texas at a later date.

Betsy was born in Dallas on October 6, 1941 to Harold Thomas Hyde Sr. and Mary Wheeler Hyde. After graduating from Paris High School in 1959, she attended Southern Methodist University where she graduated with a BA degree in 1963. Betsy was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She also engaged in post graduate studies in New York, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and SMU. Betsy taught a business protocol course for several years. She enjoyed traveling in Europe and the United States. Betsy was a duchess on the 1960 Texas Rose Festival and a member of the Dallas Women’s Club for many years. She was a member of the Palette of Roses Art League in Tyler.



She is predeceased by her parents and sister-in-law, Patty Hyde. Survivors include three brothers and sisters-in-law: Tommy and Sharlotte, Hyde (Tyler), H. T. and Laura Hyde (Tyler), and George and Bebe Hyde (Kerrville). Other family survivors include nieces and nephews: Charlie and Sandra Hyde (Caddo Mills), Todd and Kim Hyde (Tyler), Zach and Julie Hyde (Greenville), Trevor and Jennifer Hyde (Kerrville), Shanda and Dr. Nathan Breazeale (Austin), Chad and Lynn Hyde (Kerrville), Ryan and Melissa Hyde (Spring), Dr. John and Ashley Bradley (Longmont, CO), and Beth and Ed Palazzetti (Southlake). She is also survived by her aunt, Ruth Muerth and cousin, Cherie Muerth of Signal Mountain, Tennessee.
