Bullard woman will celebrate her 100th birthday with her family on Sunday

Mary Ellis King

Family members of Mary Ellis King announced they will help her celebrate her 100th birthday from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Bullard Southern Baptist Church Family Life Center.

Mrs. King was born Oct. 23, 1916, to Elbert and Mae Ellis. Her family moved from Macon, Georgia, in 1918 to the Smith-Cherokee County area. She had six brothers and three sisters.



She married Willis King in 1933, and they were married for 53 years. During World War II, they moved to Orange for Willis to work in the shipyards to build Navy war ships. In 1950, the family moved back to this area. Mary still lives at home in Bullard. She is a charter member of Bullard Southern Baptist Church.

Willis and Mary King had five children – daughter, Billie Williamson; sons, Carl, Arlon, Kenneth and Tim; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great- grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.
