New Longview Civic Chorus seeking singers

A new community chorus based in Longview is being formed and is open to adults who can read music and sing advanced choral music.
Longview Civic Chorus will be directed by Jim Taylor, head of fine arts at LeTourneau University, said an announcement from the university.
To participate, singers must attend rehearsals 7 to 9 p.m. each Monday in Room 117 of LeTourneau University’s Education Building and pay a $75 fee. The first rehearsal will take place on Feb. 5.
The chorus will sings music ranging from classical masterworks to contemporary compositions, the announcement said.
People also can participate in the chorus as course credit at LeTourneau University.
The chorus’s first concert is set for 7:30 p.m. April 24 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 906 Padon St., Longview.
