Tyler Legacy athletes qualify for regional track and field meet

Tyler Legacy is sending multiple athletes to the regional track and field meet after their performance at the District 9-6A/10-6A area meet Thursday in Mesquite.

Cooper Moore and Zion Smith are both going in multiple events.



Moore took first place in the boys triple jump with a distance of 47-6.5 and third in the boys long jump with a jump of 21-11.75.

Smith placed second in the girls triple jump with a distance of 37-7.5 and third in the girls long jump with a jump of 17-8.25.

The Lady Raiders are sending two competitors to regionals in the high jump as Jaida Sanders finished second with a height of 5-6, and Taylor Woods placed third with a height of 5-4.

Maddry East qualified with a fourth-place finish in the 3,200-meter run in a time of 12:05.90.

Caleb Morris is going to regionals in the boys high jump, placing fourth with a height of 6-2.

Jadelyn Jackson placed fourth in the boys discus throw with a distance of 141-2.

The Legacy girls placed eighth as a team with 35 points, and the boys placed ninth with 26 points.

The Class 6A Region II meet will be April 19-20 at Waco Midway.
