Lindale’s McClenny earns third straight state bid

For the third consecutive year, Lindale’s Kenzie McClenny will be competing in the UIL Girls State Golf Tournament.
The junior will be in the Class 4A Tournament after appearing as both a freshman and sophomore.
McClenny earned the berth as a medalist by tying for fifth at the Class 4A Region II Golf Tournament that was held on April 17-18 at Van Zandt Country Club in Canton. She carded a 36-hole score of 157 (76-81).
The 4A Tournament is scheduled for May 6-7 at Legends Golf Course in Kingsland, which is near the confluence of the Colorado and the Llano rivers, which combine to form Lake LBJ. The course is about 60 miles northwest of Austin.
Joining McClenny in the 4A Tournament is Spring Hill medalist Faith Ann Chinn, who is appearing in her fourth consecutive tournament. Chinn has signed with UT Tyler.
Area teams in the tourney include the Bullard Lady Panthers (Maddy Fath, Claire Fath, Avery Ritzma, Gracie Smith, Adyson Pipkin), Canton Eaglettes (Casey White, Jayme Robertson, Caroline Stern, Bella Irwin, Taryn Clayton) and Sulphur Springs Lady Cats (Autumn Allen, Kenzie Posey, McKenna Meskimen, Evey Birdsong, Alyson Thomas).
Both McClenny and Chinn are in the same group and are scheduled to tee off at 8 a.m. Monday on hole No. 10.
The Lady Panthers finished third at the Class 4A Region III Tournament, which was held April 17-18 at The Bearkat Course at Sam Houston State University, formerly known as Raven Nest Golf Club.
Bullard was led by the Top 10 finishes of Pipkin and Smith. Pipkin placed fourth with a 158 (76-82) with Smith finishing sixth with a 164 (86-78).
Chinn placed third with a 154 (79-75).
The Canton Eaglettes finished second at regionals with a score of 674. Frisco Panther Creek won first at 641. Rounding out the top five were Sulphur Springs (677), Lindale (774) and Paris (784).
The Class 3A state tournament is being held at ShadowGlen Golf Club in Manor.
East Texans competing include Mineola’s Bransyn Anderson, Hughes Springs’ Amber Shaw and the Tatum team of Hannah Marott, Ava Quick, Taydem Barker, Eliana Hill and Kaysen Foster.
The Class 2A state tourney is scheduled for Lions Municipal Golf Course in Austin.
The Frankston Maidens are competing — Bandy Bizzell, Julianna Gould, Kinley Howie and Kaylie Webb. They are joined by Quilan Boles (Alyssa Robinson, Dana Barnett, Kaedence Robison, Kalie Hampton and Ashlyn Nation).
Also, Kerens’ Blair Blue is competing as a medalist.
The Class 1A state tourney is set for Crystal Falls Golf Club in Leander.
Sulphur Bluff is taking part with Ryleigh Bell, Emma Carr, Jadi Jones and Zaylee Peyton.
