Girls Basketball Notebook: Whitehouse’s Tayla Morris takes weekly honor

Whitehouse’s Tayla Morris has earned Tyler Morning Telegraph Girls Basketball Player of the Week honors for games played Nov. 11-16.
The junior guard averaged 17.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 4.0 steals per game in wins over Center and Ennis.
Morris had 14 points, six rebounds, six assists and five steals in a 60-41 win over Center. She followed that with 21 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals in the victory against Ennis.
In other outstanding performances in the area last week (nominated by coaches):
Tyler’s Kalyse Buffin averaged 16.3 points, 12.0 rebounds and 8.8 assists as the Lady Lions went 3-1 with wins over Richland, Eagle Mountain and LD Bell and a loss to Mansfield Summit. Buffin had 18 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists against Richland; 18 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists against Mansfield Summit; 4 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists against Eagle Mountain; and 25 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists against LD Bell.
Brownsboro’s Chyann Stidham averaged 8.0 points, 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals as the Bearettes went 5-0 with wins over Bullard, Palestine Westwood, Frankston, Arp and Athens. Kynsie Daniels averaged 11.0 points, 2.5 steals and 5.8 deflections per game.
