L-EYLAU 44, HENDERSON 41: HENDERSON – The Henderson Lions scored with six minutes left to pull to within a field goal, but Liberty-Eylau took over and was able to run out the clock and hold on for a 44-41 win over Friday.

Dequane Prevo scored on a 43-yard TD pass to put L-E on top early, but Jesstin Starling had TD runs of 18 and 13 yards to move Henderson on top after one quarter.



A 20-yard TD reception by Lemarion Coleman late pulled Henderson to within three, but the Lions weren’t able to get the ball back.

JACKSONVILLE 35, BROWNSBORO 7: BROWNSBORO — It was a homecoming night loss for Brownsboro, which fell 35-7 to Jacksonville. Coach Lance Connot said, “We have to learn how to play four quarters. We’ve made some improvement, but we’re not there yet. With the effort they are showing, I feel like we can be right there when we get to district.” Outstanding players for the Bears were Reagan Ford, Danton Wright, Cade Williams, Bralen Kirkpatrick, Curtis Warren, Gabriel Hendricks, Mann Scott, Adam Thompson, Wyatt Daniels, and Jack Anderson , who hunted down the Indians all night. Playing well for the Indians were Trent Clater, Didi Mares, Luis Mancera, Radarrius Sirls, Jordan Dorsey, Elijah Whitaker, and Michael Miles.

N. DIANA 56, GLADEWATER 14: DIANA – A week after opening the season by scoring 68 points, the New Diana Eagles continued to pour it on offensively with a 56-14 win over the Gladewater Bears on Friday at Eagle Stadium.

The Eagles move to 2-0 while dropping Gladewater to 1-1 on the year.

Davyon Mapps got the scoring started for New Diana with a 55-yard TD run with 10:12 left in the opening quarter, and the Eagles got two more scores before the quarter ended on a 50-yard TD pass from DeJuan Johnson to Jaidyn Johnson with 8:17 left and a 45-yard punt return for a score from Jaiydyn Johnson with 2:45 remaining in the quarter.

DeJuan Johnson’s 45-yard scoring run made it 28-0 with 9:28 left in the half, and the Eagles closed out the first-half scoring with a 10-yard touchdown run by Tavarus Williams.

Mapps extended the lead with a 4-yard TD run at the 7:13 mark of the third quarter with a 4-yard run, and DeJuan Johnson’s 45-yard scoring sprint moved the Eagles in front 49-0 heading into the final quarter.

Grafton Morgan scored from 1-yard out with 9:20 left in the game to get Gladewater on the board, but just over a minute later DeJuan Johnson and Jaiydyn Johnson hooked up on a 70-yard TD pass to give the Eagles a 56-7 cushion.

Gladewater finished off the scoring with 35 seconds left on a 5-yard run by Carsin Cooper.

Gladewater will visit West Rusk on Thursday. New Diana hosts Sabine next Friday.

W. RUSK 32, DIBOLL 13: NEW LONDON – Judd Dotson passed for a couple of scores and rushed for one touchdown, and the West Rusk Raiders bounced back from an opening loss a week ago to earn a 32-13 win over the Diboll Lumberjacks on Friday at Bruce Bradshaw Stadium.

Dotson completed 7 of 9 passes for 96 yards and tossed touchdown passes to Kemontrea McGregor and Jacob Reasoner. Dotson also carried eight times for 76 yards and a TD.

Hunter McCandless carried 24 times for 172 yards and two touchdowns for the Raiders. McGregor finished with three catches for 56 yards, and Reasoner’s lone catch was a 7-yard TD connection.

The Raiders will host Gladewater on Thursday. Diboll (0-2) will host Rusk.

JEFFERSON 47, NEWTON 38: JEFFERSON – Kamran Williams rushed for 223 yards and two touchdowns, Thimyus Taylor passed for 277 yards and four TDs and the Jefferson Bulldogs moved to 2-0 on the year with a 47-38 win over the Newton Eagles.

Williams carried 22 times, and Taylor completed 14 of 26 passes for the Bulldogs.

K.J. Porter had 186 rushing yards on 23 carries in the loss for Newton.

Jefferson led 12-0 after one quarter following a 41-yard TD pass from Taylor to Chris Love and a 32-yard touchdown run by Williams.

A 71-yard fumble return for a touchdown by Lemarion Douglas put the Bulldogs on top 18-0, but Newton countered with a 3-yard TD run by Porter to make it 18-6.

Taylor’s 65-yard TD toss to Jakyrie Johnson sent Jefferson in at the half with a 24-6 lead, but Newton cut the deficit to 24-18 with touchdown runs of 5 and 8 yards by Porter in the third quarter.

Taylor’s 18-yard touchdown pass to Love and a Williams’ 2-pointer made it 32-18, but Porter found the end zone again on a 38-yard run with 2:03 left in the third to pull Newton to within 8 at 32-24.

Williams’ then raced 75 yards for a touchdown to cap the third quarter scoring and give Jefferson a 40-24 lead.

Braylen Patterson’s 5-yard run kept Newton in the game at 40-30, but a Taylor-to-Johnson 62-yard TD connection with 9:20 left moved the Bulldogs back in front 47-30.

Porter cashed in on a 37-yard run with 7:54 left to end the scoring.

Jefferson will visit De Kalb and Newton will host Tatum next week.

HARLETON 35, Q. CITY 0: HARLETON – Gage Shirts rushed for 129 yards and three touchdowns, and the Harleton Wildcats rolled to a 35-0 win over the Queen City Bulldogs on Friday.

Alex Holt added 60 yards and a touchdown on three carries for Harleton, now 1-1 on the year. Quarterback Skyler Karva completed 4 of 7 passes for 90 yards and a touchdown – a 6-yarder to Dawson Copeland.

Shirts also caught one pass for 69 yards, and Kiearie Stoker carried 10 times for 49 yards as the Wildcats piled up 271 yards on the ground.

TATUM 34, DAINGERFIELD 14: DAINGERFIELD – The Tatum Eagles raced out to a 20-0 halftime lead on the way to a 34-14 win over the Daingerfield Tigers and a 2-0 start to the young season.

Daingerfield drops to 0-2 with the loss.

Dameon Pippens scored on a 26-yard run and Jacorie Bradley connected with Luke Sigler on a 23-yard TD pass in the opening quarter. Sigler tacked on the 2-point conversion after his touchdown reception to give the Eagles a 14-0 lead after one quarter.

Late in the second, Jamarri Gipson scored the first of his three touchdowns on the night, this one from 1-yard out. The PAT was blocked, but the Eagles led 20-0 at the break.

Daingerfield had a 68-yard touchdown pass called back and fumbled at the 10-yard line during the first 24 minutes.

TD runs of 4 and 3 yards bi Gipson and extra points by Abelardo Ventura put the Eagles up 34-0 with 3:12 left in the game, but Daingerfield’s Trent Boyd returned a kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown to make it a 34-6 contest after a failed two-point try.

Tamar Palmer scored on a 1-yard run and Chase Johnson hit Ashton Williams on the 2-pointer with 7:54 left to make the final 34-14.

The win snapped a two-game losing streak for Tatum against Daingerfield.

Tatum will visit Newton and Daingerfield travels to Texarkana to take on Pleasant Grove next week.

OVERTON 40, CARLISLE 10: PRICE – Bryce Still passed for 340 yards and three touchdowns to go along with one rushing TD, Jayden Edwards hauled in three touchdown passes and the Overton Mustangs moved to 1-1 on the young season with a 40-10 win over the Carlisle Indians at Arrowhead Stadium.

Carlisle drops to 0-2 with the loss.

Still completed 22 of 30 passes and carried four times for 61 yards. Edwards finished with six catches for 120 yards.

The Mustangs raced out to a 27-0 lead after one quarter on TD passes of 24 and 5 yards from Still to Edwards and rushing TDs of 35 yards by Still and 36 yards by Gabe Miller.

Carlisle scored early in the second quarter on a 1-yard run by Tony Ibarra, but Overton led 27-7 at halftime.

Four minutes into the third quarter, Carlisle’s Ivan Garza booted a 36-yard field goal to make it 27-10, but that was all of the scoring for the Indians.

Still and Edwards hooked up on a 32-yard scoring strike and Miller rambled 28 yards for a touchdown in the third to make the final 40-10.

Overton will visit James Bowie and Carlisle travels to San Augustine next week.

SUB VARSITY

LONGVIEW: The Longview JV A team rolled to a 28-0 win over Marshall on Thursday.

Derek Boggs had an interception and a fumble recovery for the Lobos. Javarion Stevenson tossed TD passes of 11 yards to Anthony Huffman and 35 yards to Se’Kemian Moore.

Jaimarkus Bradley (6 yards) and Keiuntrae Talley (20) scored rushing touchdowns, and Felipe Ayala booted four PATs.

The Lobo JV B team defeated Tyler Legacy 26-6.

Aaron Ashley tossed TD passes of 35 and 25 yards to Sean Davis and added a 25-yard scoring strike to Amari Johnson. Aaron Ashley scored on a 1-yard run, and Dalton Glezen chipped in with a 2-point conversion run.

Longview’s 9th grade A team blasted Marshall, 49-0.

Jacaiden Davis threw TD passes of 25 and 53 yards to Jaden Hurndon, and Hurndon also returned a punt 58 yards for a TD.

Jaki Mitchell scored on runs of 26 and21 yards, and Rowan Jentsch returned a fumble 10 yards for a TD. Jakelvin Muckleroy had a pair of 2-point conversions, and Jeremiah Livas kicked an extra point for the Lobos.

Zacoren Fogle intercepted a pass, and Chaztin Wrighten forced a fumble.
