There were several standout performers on the diamond by the ladies in the area for the 2024 high school softball season.

To highlight those individuals for their efforts, we are announcing the Tyler Morning Telegraph All-Rose Country Softball Team.

ALL-ROSE COUNTRY SOFTBALL TEAM

PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Brooklyn Brannen, Bullard, sophomore: The pitcher and center fielder went 14-3 in the circle, striking out 157 and posting a 2.51 ERA in 97.1 innings for the Class 4A Region III finalist. She also hit .311 with 12 home runs, 45 RBIs, 38 runs scored and 22 stolen bases. Defensively, Brannen patrolled the outfield when she wasn’t pitching and had a .906 fielding percentage.

PITCHER OF THE YEAR

Taylor Gillispie, Troup, junior: Gillisipie went 14-3 with a 0.69 ERA, 199 strikeouts and 36 walks in 91.1 innings. She also hit .449 with a home run, four triples, 11 doubles, 20 RBIs and 19 stolen bases. She suffered an unexpected injury in her pitching arm half way through district play, which kept her from being able to finish the season in the circle. She did play first base the remainder of the season and was named the District 16-3A Pitcher of the Year for the second straight year.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Aubrey Hassell, Rusk, sophomore: Hassell hit .644 with 65 hits, 17 home runs, 13 doubles, 10 triples, 83 RBIs, 52 runs, 20 walks and a 2.183 OPS.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Presley Kilgore, Rains, sophomore: Kilgore was a key catalyst at third base for the 33-win regional finalist. She had a 1.000 fielding percentage with no errors. Kilgore also hit .582 with 47 hits, eight home runs, 12 doubles, four triples, 37 RBIs and nine stolen bases.

NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR

Analee Becerra, Whitehouse, freshman: Becerra hit .481 with nine home runs, eight doubles, four triples, 43 RBIs, 17 walks and 10 stolen bases.

COACHES OF THE YEAR

Russell Smith, Canton and Anthony Springer, Brook Hill: Smith led Canton to a 32-9 record and a trip to the UIL State Softball Tournament for the first time in program history. Springer led Brook Hill to a win in the TAPPS Division III state championship. It was the 10 Final Four state tournament berth for the Guard since 2007 and the eighth since Springer arrived in 2011. Brook Hill had finished as state runner-up twice, including in 2023.
