Prepare to hoist your steins and dine on authentic German delicacies at Avalon Faire’s Oktoberfest event Sept. 30 and Oct. 1.

Avalon Faire hosts Kilgore’s very own Renaissance fair each year in the spring and is now in its sixth year of marking the traditional German celebration. The event will be held over two days, from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30 and from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1. The festivities will be held at the fairgrounds at 1076 FM 1252 West in Kilgore.

The event will feature German food, German and domestic beer, music, games, vendors and bounce houses, as well as contests throughout the day.

The event menu includes: German roasted pork, brats, chicken, German potato salad, German red cabbage, sauerkraut, spaetzle, schnitzel and sausages. Bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets, if you like.

Admission for kids ages 12 and over is $10 for one day or $15 for a two-day ticket.

Tickets can be purchased through Avalon Faire’s website at www.avalonfaire.com or at the gate.

No outside food or drink is allowed. Must be 21 or older to buy alcoholic beverages. Avalon Oktoberfest Steins will be available at $15 each (the first beer is free with purchase.)

Campgrounds will be open — fees per night: $25 for primitive camping, $50 for electric and water hookups.

The faire will be accepting vendor applications through Sept. 15. Email vendor@avalonfaire.com for an application.
