Apache women, Murray State men win TJC Invitational

- TYLER JUNIOR COLLEGE golfers finished high in the medalist race at the annual TJC Invitational Golf Tournament at Oak Hurst Golf Course in Bullard. Due to severe weather in the area on Tuesday, round two was cut short with five holes to play. The official final results reverted back to the conclusion of Day 1. TJC golfers include (from left) Darryl Fulgham (fifth), Mathilde Bertoul (second), Avery Watkins (seventh), Brooke Irion (third), Charnay Williams (sixth) and Tyler Kaman (first).
BULLARD — The Tyler Junior College women and the Murray State (Oklahoma) men won the team titles when severe weather caused cancellation of the final round on Tuesday of the TJC Invitational Golf Tournament at Oak Hurst Golf Course.
Due to severe weather in the area, round two of the TJC Invitational was cut short with five holes to play, TJC’s Chuck Smith announced.
The official final results reverted back to the conclusion of Day 1 with TJC’s Tyler Kaman finishing as the top medalist on the men’s side and the women’s team earning the tournament
The Apache Ladies finished at 51 over par, followed by Murray State (plus 54), Jacksonville (plus 99) and Coffeyville (Kansas) (plus 109).
Rian Moores of Murray State won medalist honors with an 80, followed by the TJC duo of Mathilde Bertuol (81) and Brooke Irion (84). TJC’s Charnay Williams was sixth at 86 with teammate Avery Watkins (88) tying for seventh.
In the men’s tourney, Murray State won at minus 4, followed by TJC (even), TJC B (plus 13), Ranger (plus 18), Jacksonville (plus 26), Seminole State (Oklahoma) (plus 30), North Central Missouri (plus 30), Jacksonville B (plus 31), Mid-American Christian (plus 38) and Coffeyville (plus 66).
TJC’s Kaman and Murray State’s Josh Beatt tied for medalist honors with a 2-under 70. Tyler’s Darryl Fulgham tied with fifth at even par 72 with teammates Jonathan Shelton, Will Traylor and Cameron Tye all tying for seventh at 1 over 73. TJC’s Stefan Holczer, Hayden Garcia and Bill Sharpe tied for 11th at 2-over 74.
