- Lindale's #4 Kaleb Walker celebrates after stopping the Bobcats a first down giving the eagles in a good position.
Lindale Class of 2026 defensive lineman Kaleb Walker has committed to Houston, he posted on Instagram on Monday night.
“The biggest factor for me committing was how they plan to play me at OLB, Edge and in the interior where I can make an impact anywhere,” Walker told Coogs247. “It’s very similar to how I play in high school with my versatility, and not a lot of schools were offering that.”
Walker also had offers from Tulane, Arkansas State, Kansas State, New Mexico, North Texas, Sacramento State, San Diego State, Stephen F. Austin, Texas State, Texas Tech, Tulsa, UNLV, UTEP and Washington State.
Walker visited Houston on June 5, Tulane on June 12 and Kansas State last weekend.
“When I went on to the visit I felt all of the love with the coaching staff,” Walker said. “Houston is a great program. When you go on campus everything stands out: the buildings, stadiums and the city, it’s a great place to be. It was also awesome to get back with the staff and spend time with coach (Houston defensive line coach Oscar) Giles. Being a top recruit guy for them was a blessing and they showed much love to me and my family when we went there.”
Walker is a three-star recruit rated as the No. 50 edge rusher nationally by 247Sports.
As a junior, Walker had 89 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, 26 quarterback knockdowns, nine quarterback pressures and two fumble recoveries. As a sophomore, Walker had 45 tackles, nine sacks, five tackles for loss, three quarterback hurries, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
Walker and the Eagles will open the 2025 season Aug. 29 at Hallsville.
