Carlisle bolts into Texas High School AP Football Poll

Price Carlisle, fresh off a big win on Friday, bolted into the Class 2A Top 10 football poll.

The Indians are ranked No. 9 in the latest Associated Press Texas High School poll. Sports writers and broadcasters around the state vote on the poll.

The Indians are 3-0 after victories over Sabine (47-9), Troup (35-28) and Overton (59-0).

Carlisle plays host to New Boston on Friday at Arrowhead Stadium in Price. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Mason (3-0) tops the 2A poll after previous No. 1 Mart fell to Franklin 21-0.



Mason was ranked No. 2 last week and moved to the top spot after a 27-0 win over Sonora. The Mart Panthers fell to No. 6.

In Class 6A, Longview (3-0), after its 41-13 win over rival John Tyler, remained sixth. Allen is still on top after a 21-0 victory over Coppell, a game that was called in the second quarter due to storms.

Lake Travis (2-0) is No. 2, while Galena Park North Shore (3-0) is third after defeating Spring Westfield 35-3.

Lufkin moved to No. 4 after its 68-0 win over UVM-Toluca (Mexico). The Panthers moved ahead of Frisco Lone Star which lost to No. 2 Dallas Highland Park 10-7 on a last-second field goal.

Aledo is still No. 1.

Carthage held off Marshall 35-32 on Friday and the Bulldogs held on to the No. 1 spot in 4A. Arygle, which scored an impressive 66-14 win over Chapel Hill, is No. 2, followed by Texarkana Pleasant Grove.

Gilmer, which fell to Paris 27-21, and Waco La Vega, which fell to Austin LBJ 20-17, are tied for eighth.

In 3A, Newton is the unanimous No. 1 with all 25 first-place votes. Goliad moved to No. 2 from fourth after 47-13 win over George West, along with a loss by previous No. 2 Brock (21-0 to Argyle Liberty Christian).

West Rusk, with a last-quarter 28-24 win over previous unbeaten Harmony, moved from No. 9 to eighth.
