Services for Nona Kay Bickerstaff, 79, Bullard, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, September 17, 2018, at Boren Conner Funeral Home in Bullard with the Rev. Scott Brown officiating. Burial will be in Bullard Cemetery under the direction of Boren Conner Funeral Home.

Ms. Bickerstaff died September 13, 2018 in Rusk.



She was born Sept. 1, 1939, in Bullard. She graduated from Bullard high School, ETBU in Marshall, TX, and received her Master’s from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, TX. The rest of her life was spent in the Mission Field. Seven years in the Bahamas as a Foreign Missionary for the Southern Baptist Convention; ten years in North Carolina as a Minister, Pastor, and Director of Baptist Young Women; eight years in New York as Director of Church and Community Outreach for the Metropolitan New York Baptist Association; five years in Dallas, TX, as Minister of Missions for Wilshire Baptist Church. She returned to the farm she loved and grew up on in Bullard in 2002, where she continued to minister to family, friends and community right up until the time of her death.

She was preceded in death by her father, Herod Bickerstaff, mother, Gertrude Bickerstaff, brothers, Billy Bickerstaff and David Bickerstaff, and sister, Shirley Banta.

Survivors include sister-in-law’s Gloria Bickerstaff of Bullard and Ann Bickerstaff of Elkhart, brother-in-law Byron Banta of Chandler, AZ, numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Jacob Bickerstaff, John Bickerstaff, Paul Banta, Stephen Banta, Mark Bickerstaff, Ben Bickerstaff, and Steve Phillips.

Visitation with the family will be at 1 p.m. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bullard Area Senior Citizens in care of TX National Bank in Bullard.
