TJC tops Texas with 46 athletes honored for academics by NJCAA

Forty-six Tyler Junior College athletes, including 10 on the first team, have been honored as NJCAA Academic Student-Athlete Award recipients, the national office in Colorado Springs, Colorado, announced. 

TJC led the junior colleges in the state of Texas with the most honorees.

McLennan Community College of Waco was second with 37, while Hill College of Hillsboro was next with 32.

Ten Apaches were named to the first team, which means they had a perfect 4.0 GPA. 



Sixteen members were on the second team (GPA between 3.8 and 3.99), while the remaining 20 were named to the third team (GPA between 3.6 and 3.79). 

Maria Winn-Ratliff’s softball team led the way with five first-teamers.
