Jacksonville Police Department investigating officer involved shooting of dog on Fourth of July

The Jacksonville Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting of a dog on the Fourth of July. 

Officers responded to a call involving illegal use of fireworks on Heath Lane.



The call led to an officer shooting a German shepherd, according to the Jacksonville Police Department. 

The dog was killed. 

Officials are conducting a departmental administrative inquiry into the incident as a standard procedure.
