After 20 years in business, Tyler’s TGI Fridays is slated for closure.

The eatery has sat at a prominent location at Loop 323 and South Broadway Avenue since opening in 1998.

Its last day of operation will be Sunday, according to a statement from Fridays.

“This was a very difficult decision that was not made lightly, as we understand the impact it has on our guests who enjoyed dining with us, and on our team members,” a company statement said.

“We’re working closely with our team members to provide job assistance, and we appreciate and thank all who have visited our restaurant over the years.”

The restaurant initially opened in 1998 and expanded its footprint in 1999, according to Tyler Morning Telegraph archives. At that time, another 1,008 square feet was added, bringing the seating capacity to 220.

The location was also involved in fundraising for the Special Olympics in the early 2000s.
