A funeral service for Macky Lewis, age 65, of Eustace, is scheduled at 10 o’clock in the morning Monday, June 18, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Canton. Pastor James Nickell and Perry Smith will officiate. Mr. Lewis will be laid to rest at Moorehead-Melton Cemetery in Eustace. Services are under the direction of Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home Chapel in Athens.
He passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2018 in Eustace.
Macky was born June 7, 1953 in Athens to Woodrow W. and Geraldine Lewis.
On February 1, 1975, Macky married his beloved wife, Linda. He dearly loved his family and being a rancher. From sun up to sun down, he worked hard each day in every aspect of ranching. Macky was custom hay baler, as well as a welder/fabricator and inventor. He also raised prize winning Charolais cattle. He was named Athens Chamber Man of the Year in Agriculture in 2011 and was an Honorary Chapter Member of Martin’s Mill High School in 2006 and 2007.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmom, Grace Lewis.
Left to cherish Macky’s memory is his wife of 43 years, Linda Faglie Lewis of Eustace; sons, Bradley Wade Lewis and wife Katie of Austin, Colby Wells Lewis and wife Linsey of Eustace; daughter, Rebecca Lynne Lewis of Houston; and grandchildren, Samantha, Emma, Kiersten and Derek Lewis. He is also survived by his siblings, Janelle Seabourne and husband Charles of Eustace, Henry Lewis and wife Martha of Canton, Harold Lewis of Dallas, Darrell Lewis and wife Karen of McKinney, Judy Groom and husband Dale of Eustace and Donnie Lewis of Athens; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Paul Weatherford, Scott Opitz, Spencer Perkins, Roger Ward, Mark Zavadil and Josh Russell with honorary pallbearer, Randy Coker.
Visitation will begin on Sunday, June 17, 2018 and friends are cordially invited to visit with Macky’s family from 4 to 6 o’clock in the evening at Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home, Athens.
