Pickleball is gaining popularity in East Texas

Pickle ball will be offered Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am to noon at the Glass Recreation Center starting after Thanksgiving.
Pickleball is an activity that has many East Texans getting off the couch and on the court.
For the last few years, several groups have dubbed the sport as one of the fastest growing sports in America.

At first sight, you might think you were watching a game of tennis.
“Here in about the last year and a half, it’s really grown, said Maria Molidor, who plays three times a week at the Glass Recreation Center.
From the young, to the young at heart, people of all ages take their chances on the court.
The 53-year-old paddlesport combines elements of tennis, badminton and pingpong.
For the first time, a Pickleball Tournament will be held in Tyler. It will take place at the Cascades Country Club on March 24.
