Tyler Legacy baseball wins two in Lufkin tournament

LUFKIN — The Tyler Legacy Red Raiders went 2-1 in the Lufkin baseball tournament.



The Red Raiders opened with an 8-6 win over Hudson with four-run innings in the third and fifth innings.

Payne Hotman had a double. Nolan Hable drove in two runs. Garner McKinney, Cale Zips, Noah Felton and Dallas Walker all had a hit.

Zips allowed three runs on four hits with two strikeouts and for walks in 3.2 innings. Walker allowed three runs — two earned — on one hit with two walks in one inning. Brady Pollard allowed a hit and recorded an out.

In a 3-2 loss to Lufkin, Hable tripled. McKinney and Zips each had a hit.

Jaden Dais allowed three runs on three hits with three strikeouts and five walks in 2.1 innings. Pollard allowed no runs on no hits with two strikeouts and one walk in 2.2 innings.

In a 7-5 win over Port Neches-Groves, Simeon Garner hit a solo home run. McKinney and Owen Harrison each had two hits with a double. Hotman, Pollard and Cole Kimmel all had a hit.

Calvin Rippy allowed five unearned runs on three hits with four strikeouts and three walks in 3.1 innings. Knox Scudder allowed no runs on one hit with a walk in 1.1 innings. Hable retired the lone batter he faced.

Tyler Legacy (7-7) will host Rockwall-Heath at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
