Former White Oak High School standout Scott Copeland is joining the New York Mets, according to a report by SNY’s Andy Martino.

This will be Copeland’s first trip to the major leagues this season.

Copeland has spent this season in the minor leagues, most recently with Double-A Binghamton, where he has made four starts and is 3-0 with a 3.22 ERA. Copeland made one start for Triple-A Las Vegas this season and allowed four earned runs on seven hits in six innings in the victory.

Copeland hasn’t pitched in the MLB since 2015 with the Toronto Blue Jays. He has a career record of 1-1 with a 6.46 ERA in five appearances — three starts.

This is Copeland’s first season in the Mets organization. It is expected that he will join the bullpen. Of the 182 minor league appearances in his career, 172 were starts.
