UT Tyler will get another shot at advancing to the NCAA Division III national championship series on Monday.

In their first try on Sunday, the Patriots fell to Randolph-Macon 6-1 at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, Wis.

The loss snapped UT Tyler’s seven-game postseason winning streak.

The Patriots (37-18) and the Yellow Jackets (38-8-1) will play at noon Monday for the Bracket One championship. The Ashland, Virginia, team has won three straight elimination games after dropping their opener, 4-2, to Misericordia (Pennsylvania).

Randolph-Macon led 5-0 before the Patriots got on the board with a run in the bottom of the seventh, an RBI single by Jared Pauley that drove in Blake Maddox.

However, that was as close as UT Tyler would get.

The Patriots had all singles — Bowie Farris (2), Pauley, Tanner Roach, Josh Burns, Maddox and Henry Sanchez.

Rick Spiers’ three-run inside-the-park home run gave the Yellow Jackets a 4-0 lead in the third. Earlier, Cole Migliornini’s single brought home Ryan Duphorn.

Joseph Tuzzolo had three singles for Randolph-Macon, while Jeff Butler, Migliorini and Spiers had two hits apiece.

Spiers, who also had an RBI single in the fifth, drove in four runs.

Austin Schneider (2-2) pitched 6 1/3 innings for the Patriots, allowing eight hits and five runs while striking out four and walking three. Turner Givens hurled the final two innings, giving up a hit and an unearned run while walking two.

Michael Zubovich (4-0) got the win by going 6 1/3 innings, allowing six hits and one earned run while striking out three.
