Kaleb Hall hit a triple and Malachi Deleon drove in three runs as the Tyler Lions defeated the Winona Wildcats, 9-1, on Friday at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Mike Carter Field in Tyler.
The victory moves the Lions to a 3-9 on the season. On Thursday, Texas High defeated Tyler 10-0 in the District 10-5A opener in Texarkana.
Deleon had two singles with Da’Markous Pierce adding a double and Adrian Alvarado a single.
Hall added an RBI and Alvarado, Juan Higuera and Josue Menera scoring two runs apiece.
Markeez Potts threw four innings, while allowing three hits and one run with two walks and six strikeouts. Jose Zabaleta tossed the final inning, getting two strikeouts.
Against Texas High, Alvarado got the lone hit for the Lions.
The Lions return to play on Tuesday, hosting Mount Pleasant at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The Wildcats are scheduled to host Edgewood on Tuesday.
