Services for Slater Dylan Brabec, 17, Overton, are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Monday, August 6, in the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Brian Williams officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery near Overton.

Slater passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2018 near Overton. He was born March 20, 2001 in Marietta, California to Jack David Brabec and Maryann Louise Taber Brabec. He moved from California to East Texas in 2006 and attended Arp High School where he was a senior.

Slater had a big heart and is loved by many people and will be missed. He loved fishing, soccer, and his playstation. He loved his family and wanted peace and everyone to get along. His saying was “One Love” and he was a fan of Raggea music. If kindness was a plant, he would be a tree.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, (Grandma “GG”), Mary and Monte Slater, and Babunya Brabec.

He is survived by his mother and father, Jack David Brabec of Arp, and Maryann Brabec of Arp; a brother, Brenan Jeremy and Katie Brabec of Arp; a sister-in-law, Kaylee Longacre; grandparents, Grandma “G”, Mabel Taber and Grandpa Taber, and Burt and Diane Brabec; aunts and uncles, Angie Longacre, Rick and Brenda Brabec of California, Nancy Priest, of California, Tim Taber of Oregon, Tamara and Dean Strong of Idaho, his uncle who he adored, Matt Taber; cousins, Ethan and Jayden Taber, Jaxon Brabec, Avery Strong, Alyah Strong, Aaron Strong, Aidan Strong, Timeeka Taber, Akia Taber, Ricky and Stephanie Brabec, Amber Morgan, Brian Grant, Nick Priest.



Pallbearers will be Dustin Richardson, Brenan Brabec, Matthew Taber, Jack Brabec, and B. J. Langenbau. Honorary pallbearers will be Jayden Taber, Ethan Taber, Jaxon Brabec, and Dale Taber.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Sunday, August 5, 2018.
