Tyler police investigate pharmacy burglary, ask public to watch for suspicious activity

- The City of Tyler is warning residents about a scam circulating on Facebook, falsely claiming dangerous criminals are in the area.
After burglaries at two area pharmacies recently, Tyler police are urging people to be aware of and report suspicious activity.
Police on Thursday responded to a report of a burglary at the Woody Weaver Pharmacy, 2726 W. Gentry Parkway.
Officers determined that multiple people had forced their way into the business about 3:55 a.m. Surveillance footage showed them clearing shelves of bottles of pills and placing them into a bags.
On Sept. 21, a similar pharmacy burglary happened in Mineola.
Police are asking all area pharmacies to watch for anyone acting suspiciously and to double-check security measures at their business. Police also are asking the public to remain vigilant if out and about during the early morning hours and report any suspicious activity in and around a pharmacy.
