Tyler Police investigating robbery at Home Depot

The Tyler Police Department is investigating a robbery that occurred in the Home Depot parking lot Friday afternoon during which the suspect took a man’s wallet and hit him with a pink stun gun. 

A news release from the department said the suspect approached the driver’s side window of a vehicle about 2 p.m. and asked the driver for money. The driver told police that the man started assaulting him when he took out his wallet to get some money.

The driver sustained minor injuries from a brief struggle that ended when the suspect struck the driver with a pink stun gun and fled in the direction of the Bank of Tyler with the driver’s wallet, according to the news release.

The driver described the suspect as a chubby, 5-foot-11-inch black male, with a grey or bald patch on the back right side of his head and possibly wearing a gray sweatshirt.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Tyler Police Department at 903-531-1000, or Smith County Crime Stoppers at 903-597-2833.  Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest and charges filed against the suspects in this case or any felony case.
