Tyler Morning Telegraph streamlines print edition

Published 6:00 pm Sunday, January 15, 2017

Starting with today’s Tyler Morning Telegraph, you’ll notice some differences in our news pages.

The volume and content of our local news will remain unchanged, but some features and sections are condensed as we streamline our printed product.

Daily feature sections – Business, Learning, My Generation, Family+Life, Spotlight and Faith – will remain on the same days you’ve always found them, but will fall within the main A section.

Sports and Classifieds will comprise the second section of the paper.

The Sunday edition remains the same, containing the Health, East Texas and Inspire sections, in addition to Sports and Classifieds.

We’ll no longer have a Food section on Wednesdays.

Daily, we’ll provide a Variety page in the A section featuring a weather map and forecast, crossword puzzle, Today in History, Hocus Focus, popular columns and the horoscope. On Sundays, we’re adding a larger and slightly more challenging premier crossword.

Feedback from a survey of our print readers helped us determine which items to keep on the Variety page. The items with the lowest readership – Goren on Bridge, Word Warp, Cryptoquote – are the ones you won’t see anymore.

You won’t see Family Circus on the variety page anymore, only because it’s moved to the comics page, replacing the Nest Heads strip – a decision also driven by reader feedback.

Our Tuesday to Saturday markets page also will reside in the A section and now contains a half-page graphic packing lots of information, including some key features readers asked us to resume running, such as the daily gold and silver prices. We’ve truncated our stocks listings, but picked those that appear based on reader feedback.

Some items now will be online only, at Tylerpaper.com, such as our Go Guide calendar of regularly occurring events and a full version of our ET Wired events calendar.

All of our local news offerings, as well as key national and world news, are available on Tylerpaper.com and ETFinalScore.com – the best way to find news as soon as we have it, as our websites and mobile app are updated constantly.
