Robert E. Lee boys golf finishes fourth at 11-6A tournament

SULPHUR SPRINGS – Robert E. Lee combined to shoot 642 and finish fourth Wednesday at the District 11-6A boys golf tournament at Sulphur Springs Country Club.

The Red Raiders were led by William Harrison’s 152, which gave him a fourth place overall finish. Homer Holt, who was tied for third after Day 1, finished seventh after an 82 on Day 2.



The top two teams and top two individual finishers on those teams qualified for the Class 6A Region II tournament later this month in Waco. Rockwall won the title with a combined 608 score with Rockwall-Heath in second with 621. Longview finished third with 636.

John Tyler’s Sebastion Sanchez carded a two-round 164 to finish in the top 20.

The regional medalists were Steven Clements of Rockwall and Cade Bruce from Longview. Clements, who played on Rockwall’s B team, finished as tournament runner-up with a 145 total. Bruce was third overall with a 151 total.

Rockwall-Heath’s Cade Govender was the individual champion, winning by two strokes thanks to a 70-73–143.
