Owner Rob Phelps poses with the different tea flavors to mix and match for your perfect drink. Three weeks after opening, Coffee, Tea and Me offers many flavors of herbal, fruit and organic tea alongside custom made frappuccinos and smoothies and offers a relaxing and cool atmosphere to hang out at. At Tyler’s newest drink shop, the name says it all – the focus is all on coffee, tea and the customer.

“It’s called ‘It’s All About Coffee, Tea, & Me,’ but I guess the short version would be ‘Coffee, Tea, & Me,'” said owner Rob Phelps. “People want what they want. It seems there’s a little bit of ‘me’ in everything these days. The customer – that’s where the focus is.”

The shop has been open for three weeks, and the walls are lined with dozens of jars containing colorful blends of tea leaves, fruits and aromatics.

“We really have all the kinds of tea there are,” Phelps said. “It’s all about health. This is the alternative to coffee and sodas. I wanted to start something unique in Tyler that isn’t Starbucks. It’s a more personal approach to custom coffees and teas.”

Phelps said his customers have surprised him, with about half ordering tea instead of coffee, which he did not expect. The shop also offers fresh baked goods, along with vegan, all-natural smoothies and frappuccinos, which he says are “not necessarily on the healthy side, but they’re so good.”

The 1,500-square foot-space has a drive-through window, a lounge and a second, more private area. Phelps said it is available for after-hours parties and meetings, and that the shop can cater events of any size, even providing special items not on the regular menu.

It has a full staff of 11, free wifi, and it also sells tea-making equipment.

Most importantly, Phelps guarantees all products, saying “If you don’t like what we’ve made, we’ll pour it out and make you a new one with a smile on our face, no questions asked.”

He hopes that soon it can become a Tyler hot-spot for all kinds of people to enjoy quality drinks in a relaxing atmosphere.

“We want this to become a business meeting place, a study place for those who are serious about their studies, for families to come in … we want to be a known place in town,” Phelps said. “We don’t want to be the cheapest place in town. We want to be the best place in town.”
